Working hard to improve our community

Secretary

David Hewitt

As many of you will have seen, members of Church Wilne Rotary accompanied Santa on his annual visits to our local villages, Spondon, Ockbrook, Borrowash, Draycott and Breaston during the run up to Christmas. Well, a Rotary Club isn't just for Christmas, we engage in a host of Service Projects, fund raisers and social activities throughout the year.

Last year we raised over £12,000 which was distributed to local and other Rotary charities.

Just to give you a feel for the things we do as a club I have a list of some of the planned activities for 2023:
Some of our service Projects may include:
• A visit from The Easter Bunny
• A Charity Horse Ride
• Supporting Derbyshire County Show
• Tea Dance for seniors
• Continue to support in a local school giving senior pupils ideas for jobs and CV presentation
• We also have socials, trips and speaker meetings. Some of these are listed here:
• Burns Night
• Visit to The Great British Car Journey Motor museum.

In January and early February we will hold our regular speaker meetings at The Royal Oak, Ockbrook where we have a meal, fellowship and entertainment. The subjects of our forthcoming talks are:
• The History of St. Chad's Church
• Reopening the Peaks and Dales Railway Line
• The Broxtowe Women's Project

For more information about our club and its activities, please email me,David Hewitt, the Secretary at: rccw1220@gmail.com where I will be able to give you further information about Rotary, its aims and activities
